Habilitation
This service includes assisting the member with handover hand or verbal prompts to help conquer goals leading to becoming independent on one or more daily living goals.
What it does:
Builds skills and independence, not just supervision.
How it benefits at-risk individuals:
- Teaches self-care, communication, and social skills
- Reduces challenging behaviors by increasing predictability and competence
- Helps individuals function more independently, lowering long-term support needs
- Supports transitions (school → adult life, family home → independent living)
Why DDD values Habilitation (HAH):
It addresses root causes of risk—lack of skills, structure, or coping—rather than just reacting to crises.
